The traditional Hindu ceremony signifies not only the union of the bride and groom, but also their families.  It takes place beneath a sacred canopy called the mandap. Deities are worshipped and asked to bless the couple, then offerings of food and drink are made.  A wedding knot is tied around the hands of the couple while a sacred fire is lit.  The couple circle the fire four times, each round representing a vow to carry out moral duties to each other, their families, and society.
Although a fire could not be lit within the walls of the Four Seasons where Nirupa and Arun’s wedding ceremony took place. The importance of their vows was no less significant. The rite was performed under a striking luminous mandap designed by Fiori Floral and Event Design.
Nirupa was exquisitely adorned in an intricately beaded silk and lace sari, while Arun’s bold blue headdress and crisp, embroidered jacket provided the perfect compliment. Lianne Adelson of the Event Boutique was the behind the day’s expert and luxurious planning at the Four Seasons Hotel and at the ROM.
