Toni & Wallace: Setting a Trend.
For their wedding photographs with Gillian Williamson, Toni and Wallace decided to break all the rules and follow the call of cool—Converse, to be concise. No more stiff and dowdy dress shoes for these groomsmen. After all, to be cool is to be comfortable! Then it was off to the tony Granite Club where planner, Whitney Pizale of Bliss, had set the stage for the couple’s classically refined reception.
Melanie & Gerry: Hot in Positano.

Straight from the scenes of La Dolce Vita, channeling a little Fellini and a lot of favoloso, Gillian Williamson photographed Melanie & Gerry in the ancient streets of Positano, a picturesque, cliff-side town on the Amalfi Coast of Italy. This trendy Aussie couple are currently living in the UK but decided that, if everyone was flying in for their wedding, they might as well fly somewhere hot and beautiful. The words ‘hot and beautiful’ could just as easily be used to describe their wedding photos – ciao bella!
Posing Night.
There’s a lot more to posing than saying ‘cheese’. Just ask the couples who attended Ikonica’s first Posing Night. They may have started with nervous giggles and stiff stances but by the end of the night, after some instruction, they were primed for the pages of Wedluxe Magazine. Gillian Williamson covered everything from the basics of how to stand, to making kissing look romantic. She even revealed the tricks to looking taller and thinner. Ikonica’s instant imaging station allowed couples to view their photos on the spot for immediate feedback. Couples were also given hair, make-up, and styling advice by experts Al Fortier, Christine Kohut, and Tsering Zongdho.
We’ll be hosting our next Posing Night on Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Make an event of it and schedule your own private posing night with your bridal party.
A Beauty Shoot with T.H. Jackson Huang.
As many of you know, Ikonica’s director, Jackson Huang, is a distinguished fashion and beauty photographer. He was recognized by Applied Arts, Canada’s premier magazine of visual communications, for his outstanding work and was featured in their 2006 and 2008 photography and illustration annuals. Gillian Williamson caught him at work during a photo shoot with makeup and hair stylist, Sylvie Mazerolle and models, Lacey and Leigh from Elite Models.
Shayna & Dan in WedLuxe.
Melanie, Joelle and Shayna are sisters and partners at inBloom Event Design. As soon as Melanie began describing their plans for Shayna’s own wedding, Ikonica director, Jackson Huang, recognized the exciting potential for their event. Jackson also knew that Gillian Williamson and Lisa McPeek would be the perfect photographers for the assignment. Acting as co-leads, the duo’s photographs encapsulate the imaginative and charming realization of the vintage, circus-inspired theme. To complete the creative process, Ikonica’s post-production expert, Virginia LeBlanc, applied her astute colour knowhow to artfully underscore the whimsical nature of the imagery.
Pick up a copy of the Winter/Spring 2010 edition of WedLuxe and see for yourself why their editor Angela Desveaux calls Shayna and Dan’s wedding “one of my all-time favourites”.
Suzanne & Bryan

After 10 years together, Suzanne and Bryan tied the knot at the Field House at Berkley Church. Gillian Williamson thought the colourful venue was the perfect setting for this ebullient couple. The romantic city of Paris served as inspiration for the wedding and when it came to the cake, what better ‘cherry on the top’ than the Eiffel Tower!
Lesley & Greg

The hallowed halls of Harvard, where Lesley & Greg met, seem to have served as inspiration behind their wedding. Both the ceremony venue, Trinity Chapel at the University of Toronto, and Windsor Arms Hotel, where the reception was held, effuse old-world charm. Photographer Gillian Williamson took advantage of the Victorian buildings to provide an erudite backdrop for Lesley’s classically elegant dress.
Susan McCormick of Bliss helped orchestrate an event that brought together friends and family from Boston, Halifax and Hong Kong.
Julietta and Chris: urban sophisticates

Julietta and Chris were married in an intimate ceremony at George, an 1850’s chocolate factory transformed into a restaurant featuring the cuisine of Chef Lorenzo Loseto. The couple had worked with Gillian Williamson during their engagement session this past summer and were already at ease with her easy-going and personal style. Through the day, the bride and groom were showered with love and good wishes from family and guests then enjoyed an exuberant first dance.
