Introducing Lisa McPeek

For 2009, we are proud to introduce a new artist to our roster, Lisa McPeek. Lisa joined Ikonica in 2006 and has been shooting as a 2nd photographer primarily with Jackson. “In my early twenties, in search of myself and my creative imagination, I traveled through Egypt. I took only 100 rolls of film, my camera, and the clothes on my back. For three months, every moment was about seeing, capturing, exploring. When I returned home and got into the darkroom, I saw the photographs and I knew then I had found my calling.”

After the completion of her formal training in photography and earning her BA from Ryerson University, Lisa undertook projects to document the fascinating people she knew, musicians like Feist, Peaches and Chilly Gonzales. Her ability to catch moments of connection shared between people developed into a unique body of work that would take her on tour with the artists through Europe and across North America and her images from these experiences would later be published in Rolling Stone magazine

A keen observer of relationships and how people are together, Lisa always seeks to record the spark between people. At Ikonica, this quest for emotionally evocative images drives her to capture your once-in-a-lifetime event with passion, producing an indelible treasure of rich, visual memories. As she puts it, “For me, wedding photography is the chance to shoot documentary images creatively, to step into people’s lives and capture genuine moments in the most beautiful way I can.”

In addition to Rolling Stone, Lisa’s work can also be seen in WedLuxe, Time, Wire and Toronto Life. She is also a 2009 winner in Applied Arts Photography and Illustration Annual.
